Commemoration concert in Paris for the death of Chopin
La Madeleine Church in Paris is hosting this year - one hundred and fifty years after the death of Fryderyk Chopin - a commemoration concert on October 30th, 2019. The second homeland of the renowned composer, who indeed acquired French nationality, cannot but remember his genius. He was called “poet of the piano” and earned immortal fame of great composer of Romanticism.
Chopin was born in the territory that now pertains to Poland. As mentioned before, he moved to Paris in 1830, after the November Uprising and the consequent repression by Russia. Not only was Chopin the interpreter of an unrivalled composition technique, but he also innovated style, harmony and musical form. He was a great influencer of his time, for his association of music with nationalism.
The Hélios Orchestra and the Tempestuoso Choir, conducted by Jean Charles Dunand, will pay homage to him by performing Chopin’s Funeral Parade, Chopin’s Prelude in E minor and B minor, and Mozart’s Requiem. And what venue would best suit the celebration? Certainly, La Madeleine, which was erected in the heart of Paris and completed right at the beginning of the XIX century, when Chopin was born.
